Bangalore, January 9: Demand for Tata Motors’ newly launched Safari Storme SUV has been growing and currently it has orders for over 2,000 units.
Launching the Safari Storme in Bangalore today, Ashesh Dhar, Head-Utility Vehicle Product Group, Passenger Car Business Unit of Tata Motors, said the company has so far sold more than 3,000 units of the Storme since it was rolled out in the northern market in October last year. Storme sales have been on the upswing and currently the company has orders to deliver 2,000 units, he added.
“We are launching the vehicle in a phased manner across the country. Today it is entering South India through Bangalore,” he said. From today, the vehicle will be available in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh too. He said the SUV will be launched in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next 10 days to make the vehicle available across the country.
The Storme is being launched in a phased manner as Tata Motors did not want to make the customers to wait for longer periods to take delivery of the vehicle, he said. He added that at present, the Storme has a waiting period of 4-6 weeks. The company has an around 12.5 percent market share in the SUV market.
The vehicle comes in with four variants: LX 4x2 (Rs 9.95 lakh), EX 4x2 (Rs 10.85 lakh), VX 4x2 (Rs 12.58 lakh) and VX 4x4 (Rs 13.87 lakh); all prices ex-showroom Bangalore.
