Tata Motors group sells nearly 1 lakh vehicles globally in December ‘11

The Tata Motors Group global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover, were 99,853 nos., in December 2011, a 33 percent growth over December 2010. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 809,872 higher by 27 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11.

Global sales of all commercial vehicles – Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range -- were 48,099 nos. in December 2011, a growth of 28 percent.

Sales of all passenger vehicles were at 51,754 nos. in December 2011, higher by 38 percent. Cumulative sales for the fiscal grew by 26 percent to touch 447,127 units. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles and the distribution offtake in India of Fiat cars were at 20,773 nos., for the month, higher by 28 percent over December 2010.

Global sales of Jaguar Land Rover in December 2011 were at 30,981 vehicles, higher by 45 percent over December 2010. Jaguar sales for the month were 4,726 nos., higher by 9 percent, while Land Rover sales grew 54 percent to 26,255 units. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal are 216,412 nos., higher by 22 percent. Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 39,921 nos., lower by 7 percent, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 176,491 nos., higher by 31 percent.

While JLR is witnessing healthy growth, Tata Motors’s Nano on the other end of the price spectrum is also showing growth in sales, especially after the introduction of the improved 2012 Nano.
