Tata Motors’ passenger car sales down 62 percent in December but exports up
January 3, 2014: Tata Motors is bearing the brunt of the slowdown since the past year or so and its December 2013 sales of passenger cars at 9,272 units are down 62.41 percent (December 2012: 24,669). While the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range sold a total of 6,537 units, the Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sold 2,735 units.

According to a company press release, cumulative sales of passenger vehicles for April-December 2013 are 103,516 units. While cumulative sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range total 79,937 units, cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range comprise 23,579 units.
On the export front, Tata Motors sold 2,842 units in December 2013, up 470 percent mainly because of the low base of 498 units in December 2012. Cumulative sales from exports for April-December 2013 were 36,260 units as against 5,443 in April-December 2012, up 566 percent.
