Tata Motors launches Nexon facelift at Rs 810,000

Tata Motors has launched the Nexon facelift at Rs 810,000 (ex-showroom, India) for the base Smart MT variant and go up to Rs 13 lakh for the 1.5-litre diesel AMT variant. This is the second facelift for the Nexon, as the first facelift was launched in 2020

The variant-wise price break-up is:
1.2-litre MT: Rs 810,000
1.2-litre AMT: Rs 11.70 lakh
1.2-litre DCA: Rs 12.20 lakh
1.5-litre Diesel MT: Rs 11 lakh
1.5-litre Diesel AMT: Rs 13 lakh
All the prices are ex-showroom and introductory.

The design of the Tata Nexon facelift, which was unveiled on September 7, draws inspiration from the Curvv and Harrier EV concepts. It gets a split-headlamp setup with the headlights placed in the trapezoidal housing, and the sequential LED daytime running lights (DRLs) at the top, connected by a slim upper grille where the Tata Motors logo sits. The bottom half of the bumper also has a thick bar running across that houses the number plate.

There's a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels and a new accent line that is no longer highlighted in a contrasting colour. The Nexon facelift now gets a full-width LED light bar connecting the tail-lights and the reverse light has now been moved to the bumper.

Dimensions-wise, the SUV hasn't changed much; its length and height have increased by 2mm and 14mm, respectively, while the width has reduced by 7mm. The wheelbase and ground clearance remain the same at 2,498mm and 208mm, respectively. Tata Motors also says the boot space is 382 litres.

Tata Nexon facelift interior, features

Inside, the Nexon facelift closely resembles the Curvv concept. The centre console, which has far fewer physical buttons as they have been replaced by a touch-based panel for HVAC controls, now sports slimmer and more angular AC vents. Additionally, the dashboard gets leather inserts and a carbon-fibre-like finish.

The top-spec Nexon facelift gets a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen and a similarly sized digital instrument cluster that can also be used for navigation. Other features include a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, a voice-assisted sunroof and more. Safety features include six airbags as standard across the range, ESC, three-point seat belts for all passengers, ISOFIX as well as emergency and breakdown call assist.

Tata Nexon facelift powertrain, variants

Under the hood, the Nexon facelift continues with the 120hp, 170Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, and the 115hp, 260Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine. While both engines continue with the existing 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT, the petrol engine also comes with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (with paddle shifters), depending on the variant.

Tata Motors has dropped the older variant nomenclature that started with ‘X’ – XE, XM, XM+, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux – and is now using a Punch-like naming scheme. As such, the Nexon facelift trims are Smart, Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S and Fearless+ S. The ‘+’ denotes optional packages bundled with several features, while the S denotes the addition of the sunroof.

Tata Nexon facelift rivals

The Nexon facelift continues to compete with the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite.
