Mumbai, May 15, 2013: Tata Motors has posted total sales of 81,241 units across the world in April 2013. That is a 7 percent drop from the level of 87,377 units in April 2012.
The company’s key business sector of commercial vehicles posted a 6 percent growth in April, with sales of 39,969 units. Its luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover sold a combined 28,874 units, a 15 percent growth over April 2012. That, incidentally, is the best ever monthly sales performance of the two brands.
Tata’s passenger vehicle business continues to struggle with sales of 12,398 units last month. That is a 49 percent drop from the sales level of 24,226 units that the company reported in April 2012. It is to be noted last year’s figure also included distribution off-take in India of Fiat cars.
