Tata Motors launches Tigor AMT at Rs 575,000

Tata Motors has, in a silent move, added the Tigor AMT to its compact sedan’s line-up and has updated its website with prices and details.

The five-speed AMT gearbox is only available in the petrol Revotron engine that displaces 1.2 litres and puts out 85hp and 114Nm of peak torque.

Tata Motors is offering the Tigor AMT in two higher-spec trims – XTA and XZA – priced at Rs 575,000 and Rs 622,000, respectively (prices ex-showroom, Delhi). This is an increase of about Rs 40,000 compared to their respective manual transmission versions.

The XTA comes with full wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels, four speakers with the infotainment system that comes with navigation and Bluletooth connectivity for smartphones, steering mounted audio controls, rear parking sensors, two airbags and ABS with EBD. The top-spec XZA comes with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment with four speakers and two tweeters, a reversing camera, automatic climate control and 15-inch alloy wheels.

The Tigor AMT rivals the likes of the Maruti Dzire petrol AMT (starting at Rs 673,000), Ford Aspire automatic (Rs 834,000) and Honda Amaze CVT (starting at Rs 737,000) in the very competitive compact sedan segment. (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

At this price point, the Tigor AMT, although a bit smaller, is nearly Rs 100,000 cheaper than the current segment leader, the Dzire AMT.
