New Swan looking for tech tie-ups in fine blanking technology

New Delhi, February 9, 2013: New Swan is one exhibitor at the ACMA Automechanika which does not cater to the aftermarket space. The company, which manufactures sheet metal components, is a Tier 2 supplier to OEMs such as Honda, Suzuki, Mahindra 2 Wheelers, Piaggio (Vespa scooter, Ape and four-wheeled LCVs), Tata Motors, TVS, JCB and others via Bosch, Faurecia, Bosal and other known auto component suppliers.
According to a company official, it is looking form a technical tie-up in the area of fine blanking technology. Fine blanking is a sheet metal stamping technology which enables manufacturing of ready-to-use functional components of high precision, perfectly and smoothly cut surfaces.
Components used in the transmission systems are put through the fine blanking process to make clean and accurate cuts like sprockets.
During the trade fair, New Swan has renewed the technical assistance agreement (earlier formed in 2009) with Gunma Seiko wherein the latter assists the company in cold forging technologies. The company is installing the equipment to ready itself for machining of the components and has already invested nearly Rs 8-10 crore.
A company official disclosed that there will further equipment installations at its Ludhiana facility. The Rs 300 crore company also exports components to KTM in Austria, Bosch and ZF.
