Suzuki Motorcycle India will commercially launch an entry model in March to pep up its motorcycle sales volumes. The bike, named Hayate, will sport a 110cc engine and is likely to be available for an on-road price of around Rs 48,000 in Mumbai, according to an industry source. There was no official comment from Suzuki Motorcycle India. The Hayate will compete with another to-be-launched Japanese motorcycle, the Dream Yuga from Honda. The Dream Yuga will be available with a 110cc engine.

Currently, Suzuki is struggling in the motorcycle market, even as it continues a good performance in the scooter segment. For the April 2011-January 2012 period, Suzuki sold 49,750 motorcycles and 225,542 scooters in India. For the same period, Suzuki’s scooter volumes grew 21 percent and its motorcycle sales were up 25 percent over the April’10-Jan’11 period.
