Ssangyong launches New Korando C in Europe

October 8, 2013: Ssangyong Motor, part of the Mahindra Group, has begun selling the New Korando C in the global market following its launch in Europe, subsequent to its China launch.

The launch of the New Korando C was held in Wiesbaden, Germany where around 30 distributors, along with some 100 journalists from 19 countries including non-European countries like Russia and Turkey as well as France, the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany checked out and also drove the SUV.

According to Ssangyong CEO, Lee Yoo-il, “The New Korando C has been reborn having actively adopted global market needs. I expect that it will establish itself as a flagship model of Ssangyong in Europe as well. We will make efforts to strengthen the Ssangyong Motor brand while focussing on increasing our global SUV market share by introducing the New Korando C to customers through our global sales network, including the European network.”

The Korean carmaker plans to establish a solid foothold in key markets following the Korando C’s launch and will put the model on sale through 1,300 global distributors from this year.

SsangYong has changed the styling of the New Korando C and also upgraded interior quality. The company has sold 130,000 units of the model, which was launched in 2010 for the global market. The targeted annual sales volume is expected to rise to 80,000 units when global sales start in earnest.

In Europe, the New Korando C petrol model will be sold along with the diesel version which is already on sale in Korea. The diesel model is equipped with the e-XDi200 engine (175bhp, Automatic Transmission) or the e-XDi200 Low CO2 engine (149bhp, Manual Transmission).

The Korando C features a ventilated driver’s seat and smart key system. It also has equipment that meets European regulations including DRL (Daytime Running Lights) and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
