Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, which leads the Indian operations of five Volkswagen Group brands – Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini have crossed a key production milestone of 1.5 million units from across its manufacturing facilities in Chakan near Pune and Shendra, Aurangabad. This milestone has been accomplished with the production of Skoda Kushaq.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director, Skoda Auto Volkswagen said, “The production milestone is a significant achievement and a testament to the success of our products in the domestic as well as export market.”  The company added that the growth is despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and chip shortages across the industry.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen facility in Pune currently produces Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento. The Aurangabad facility produces premium and luxury models from the Group’s brands Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi. The milestone vehicle Skoda Kushaq, is the first production vehicle of the India 2.0 project – and the first Skoda to be developed and manufactured in and for India.

The company also marked another important milestone in its India 2.0 journey with the commencement of exports of the made- in-India Volkswagen T-Cross in February 2022. The Group has exported over 545,700 cars until December 2021.

The new Kushaq, the first model developed under the India 2.0 project, has generated significant growth for Skoda. Further, the production of the second model, the Slavia, recently started and expected to boost growth further.
