Simple Energy targets 13 cities in Phase 1 of launch

The company has shortlisted cities in states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab respectively.

Simple Energy targets 13 cities in Phase 1 of launch

Bangalore-based EV start-up Simple Energy which is going to launch its flagship e-scooter ‘Simple One’ on August 15, in Bangalore, will be made available in 13 cities across India in Phase 1.

The start-up had announced that its e-scooter will be available in Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad, followed by other cities in phase 1, it is working on its state-of-the-art factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu that will have a capacity to manufacture 1 million units annually. The company says it has received lot of interests from across the country, and hence has decided that it will introduce its e2W in multiple states across India. 

The company has shortlisted cities in states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab respectively. It has also finalised the company-owned experience centres in cities of these states to be able to scale up soon, thus helping in commencing deliveries. 

Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO, Simple Energy said, “We have been receiving a lot of requests from many cities across India to book the vehicle. The company felt the need to address these requests and kickstart the phase1 plan. We are also commencing the pre-bookings from all-India from the launch day. The future is certainly cleaner and greener for Simple Energy.”

As per the product specs revealed, the Simple One will have a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, a claimed range of 240km in eco mode, top speed of 100kph, and 0-50kph acceleration in 3.6 seconds. Other key features a mid-drive motor along with a removable battery and futuristic design. It will also come with features like a touchscreen, on-board navigation and Bluetooth, among others. While the exact pricing has not yet been announced, the e-scooter is expected to be in the range of Rs 110,000 to Rs 120,000.
