Setco Automotive, manufacturers of ‘Lipe’ branded clutches for heavy and medium commercial vehicles, recently inaugurated its new facility at Uttarakhand, which will service the aftermarket clutch requirements of its customer base. Employing 55 people, this new plant will manufacture Setco’s new range of clutch products, using a semi-automated assembly line. This will increase the company’s capacity and productivity in India by 150 per cent and add much-needed capacity to cater to the increasing aftermarket needs.

According to Harish Sheth, chairman and managing director, Setco Automotive Ltd, “setting up a plant in Uttarakhand was a strategic decision on our part to emphasise our support to our OEM and aftermarket customers. Due to benefits offered by the state of Uttarakhand, our products will cost less to manufacture, thus allowing for more competitive prices to the end user.”

Located near Sitarganj, the unit was set up at a total investment of Rs 9 crore. According to Setco, the setting up of this new facility would provide the company with leverage in terms of a reliable supply chain to meet the consumer requirements. The capacities freed at its current plant at Kalol will be used to produce new and improved product lines for OEM customers and also meet Setco’s global requirements.
