SEDEMAC Mechatronics, the Pune-based start-up incubated by IIT Bombay, is making its debut at the Auto Expo Components 2020 (Indoor: Hall 4B- FF, Booth No. 220 / Outdoor: 7ABC, Booth No. A3).

Sedemac builds innovative powertrain control technologies that are deployed through a combination of large-volume manufacturing of electronic controllers and long-term relationships with major OEMs and Tier-1s. The company says it has a special focus on controls for small powertrains, both for the on-road and off-road markets where its solutions have been deployed on millions of two-wheelers and hundreds of thousands of generators.

Sedemac’s long-term bets tend to be aligned with the global story of reduced emissions, improved fuel economy, electrification, and improved user experience. The company’s immediate interest is in the disruption of the starter motor industry, beginning with two-wheelers, through its Sensorless Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) technology.

This technology, according to SEDEMAC, eliminates the need for conventional starter-motor based engine start systems. ISG results in instant and smooth engine start, improved reliability, and enables idle-stop-start feature. Sedemac’s world-first sensorless ISG technology eliminates the need for hall effect sensors which are conventionally used for ISG applications, thereby providing high temperature compliance, improved reliability and reducing the system cost. The forward-looking ECU architecture enables integration of electronics of other control intensive technologies such as Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

The company is also showcasing other products including
- Electronic Fuel Injection ECU
- Motor controllers for EV
- Battery management system
- Common-rail ECU
- IoT gateway devices
- AMT ECU
- Custom ECU
- Voltage regulator and rectifier
- TCI/CDI

SEDEMAC is essentially looking to showcase its indigenously developed electronic controls for automotive applications and networking. The company says participation at “such industry events helps us showcase our strengths, products and technologies that we've already made and also our forthcoming plans. Also, they give us vast information on requirements and needs of our customers,  the latest developments made by customers and competitors.”
