Sandvik Coromant India, which is part of global industrial engineering group Sandvik, today opened its new global meeting place in Pune for productivity, application, machining and research in manufacturing.

This 18,000 square feet facility – one of only six such centres across the Sandvik Coromant global operation – follows a Rs 27 crore investment. The other centres are Langfang in China, Schaumburg in USA, Queretaro in Mexico, Fair Lawn USA and Sandviken in Sweden.

Importantly, the new Sandvik Coromant Center is equipped with Digital Live Machining (DLM), a technical platform that streams live machining demonstrations (via the cloud) to remote locations.

The company says the Sandvik Coromant Center, Pune, will strengthen its position as the global leader in competence and innovation within India’s manufacturing industry. The facility is a meeting place where visitors can interact and co-operate in a modern and inspiring environment, enabling physical and digital collaboration.

Javier Guerra, the newly appointed president at Sandvik Coromant India, said: “It gives me immense pleasure to announce that, in our endeavour to offer cutting-edge solutions and expertise to customers, we now have a world-class Sandvik Coromant Center in Pune. The facility will be of great service to anyone who is interested in productivity gains, cutting-edge research and the future of global manufacturing.”

Javier Guerra will be responsible for continuing to develop the company as the leading supplier of metal cutting tools, tooling solutions, and know-how to the manufacturing industry.

Guerra has over 20 years of experience in the industry, 16 of them with Sandvik Coromant. He has previously worked in various positions like Sales Director, Marketing Manager and Customer Operation Manager. He will be accountable for driving and executing all aspects of the Sandvik Coromant sales performance through both direct and indirect sales channels and customers in India. He will also be responsible planning and executing sales strategies aimed at achieving the overall business targets in India.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Javier for the new role. I am confident that Javier in the new role will take the brand to the next level with his strong leadership and extensive knowledge and experience of the industry. His leadership, along with the strong team in Sandvik Coromant, makes me feel highly optimistic for the future development of Sandvik Coromant,” said Michael Eneberg, General Manager, Sales Area South & East Asia at Sandvik Coromant.

Speaking on his new appointment, Javier Guerra said, “It’s a great honour and privilege as this is a major milestone in my career since my association with Sandvik Coromant. My focus will lie on securing the continuity of Sandvik Coromant’s success and strengthening our role as market leader in India. Also, we would reiterate our commitment to the Indian market and would focus on leveraging our international expertise to serve our customers and give them value at all point of time.”
