New role for Ashok Leyland’s R Seshasayee

Chennai, March 1., 2013: R Seshasayee, executive vice-chairman of Ashok Leyland, will take on a new role as its non-executive vice chairman from April 1, 2013. This was unanimously decided at a meeting of the Board of Ashok Leyland held today, the company announced in a press release.

New role for Ashok Leyland’s R Seshasayee

Chennai, March 1., 2013: R Seshasayee, executive vice-chairman of Ashok Leyland, will take on a new role as its non-executive vice chairman from April 1, 2013. This was unanimously decided at a meeting of the Board of Ashok Leyland held today, the company announced in a press release.

“This change is preparatory to Mr Seshasayee taking on higher responsibilities involving the global operations of the Hinduja Group. This is also in recognition of his tremendous contribution in leading Ashok Leyland to become one of the country’s premier commercial vehicle manufacturers,” is how Dheeraj G Hinduja, chairman, Ashok Leyland, described the change.

Seshasayee started his journey with Ashok Leyland in 1976 and became its managing director in 1998. At the helm of affairs, he spearheaded the growth and development of the company which today has a pan-India presence with a comprehensive product portfolio as also a significant global footprint. His financial acumen is evident in the financial soundness of the company that has a record of unbroken profitability since inception. He sought growth for the company through diversification into profitable adjacencies and it was during his watch that Ashok Leyland inked a series of 50:50 joint ventures with global players like Nissan Motor Company, John Deere and Alteams Group that have begun to pay rich dividends.
