Renault India sells 35,052 units in 2012

Chennai, January 2, 2013: Renault India has clocked sales of 35,052 units for the calendar year 2012. Sales for December ’12 stood at 5,924 units as against 185 in December 2011. Compared to 2012, the company had sold 1,401 units between June- December 2011 when it had only two models – the Fluence and the Koleos – on sale.

December 2012 sales comprised 4,485 units of the Duster, 820 Scalas, 515 Pulse hatchbacks, 68 Fluence cars and 36 Koleos SUVs. Total sales for December 2011 were 185 units with the Fluence accounting for 145 units and Koleos 40 units.

In the past 12 months, the carmaker has added three more models – the Pulse hatchback, the Duster SUV and the Scala saloon -- to its product portfolio. It has also gone about expanding dealership network across the country at a rapid pace, setting up close to 100 dealer points in the past 18 months.

Commenting on the CY 2012 sales, Marc Nassif, managing director, Renault India (pictured), said: “It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35,000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year to our prospective customers. A full range of cars with five models and a pan-India network which will be close to 100-strong soon reflects our commitment to the Indian market.”
