Renault India appoints Sumit Sawhney as ED (marketing and sales)
Chennai, October 18, 2012: Renault India has announced the appointment of Sumit Sawhney as executive director (marketing & sales), from today. Sawhney was previously head of marketing and sales with GM India.
Chennai, October 18, 2012: Renault India has announced the appointment of Sumit Sawhney as executive director (marketing & sales), from today. Sawhney was previously head of marketing and sales with GM India. He has over 17 years of experience in the automotive industry and will report to Marc Nassif, managing director, Renault India.
Commenting on the appointment, Nassif said, “We welcome Sumit Sawhney into the Renault family. With his vast experience and understanding of the dynamics of the Indian automobile industry, we are confident he will ensure that Renault India is on the right path to grow rapidly. It is time for Renault to localise not only products but also the talent pool for human resources.”
Meanwhile, Len Curran, VP, marketing and sales, who joined Renault India in 2010, will relocate within the Renault Group after completing his assignment in India.
Renault, which currently has five models in India –Fluence, Koleos, Pulse, Duster and Scala – manufactures its cars at the Oragadam plant which has a capacity of 400,000 units per annum. At present, Renault India has 70 dealerships across the country which the company plans to increase to around 100 dealerships by the end of 2012.
