South-based component supplier, Pricol, is in talks with Peugeot for the supply of instrument clusters for the 508 saloon, the French carmaker’s debut offering. According to people in the know, talks have commenced and Pricol is confident of bagging this prestigious order.
Peugeot, the last major global carmaker to enter India announced its plans to invest Rs 4,000 crore in a facility with a capacity of 170,000 units. It will include an engine and gearbox plant and will be built at Sanand in Gujarat. The company will enter the B and C segments progressively, top sources have said. The 508 will be launched in 2014.
Chnadigarh-based SSWL which bagged an order for 600,000 wheel rims for PSA Peugeot may also supply wheel rims for cars that roll out from the company’s Indian unit but that has not been confirmed.
