Big plans for small i10
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) unveiled its much-awaited compact car i10 recently. The i10 will be available in 10 colours and be exported to over 70 countries from India.
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) unveiled its much-awaited compact car i10 recently. The i10 will be available in 10 colours and be exported to over 70 countries from India. Total production of i10 during calendar 2007 will be 15,000 units. HMIL managing director H S Lheem said at the launch, “Of course, this car will be a major volume player which will be made at our new plant in Chennai. We expect to sell two lakh units of this model in the next
two years.”
He added that by January next year HMIL will start exporting the diesel variant of i10 with a 1.1-litre engine imported from Korea. While the Santro is positioned as a low-end compact car, the i10 will be positioned in the premium category, said HMIL vice-president – sales and marketing Arvind Saxena. The car's four variants are priced from Rs 3.39 to Rs 3.99 lakh.
