Piaggio launches 2020 Vespa VXL, SXL and refreshed Aprilia Storm

The Vespa VXL, SXL Facelift 2020 Range and the new Aprilia Storm with disc brake and digital cluster – which were first revealed at the Auto Expo 2020 in Greater Noida in February.

Piaggio India today launched three scooters – the Vespa VXL, SXL Facelift 2020 Range and the new Aprilia Storm with disc brake and digital cluster – which were first revealed at the Auto Expo 2020 in Greater Noida in February. 

The highlights of the Vespa VXL and SXL range include a monocoque full steel body, ABS with twin pot calliper disk brake, LED headlight, centre integrated daytime bright beam light, USB mobile charging port and boot light.

Meanwhile, the new Aprilia Storm 125cc gets a 220mm, twin-pot calliper front disc brake and digital cluster.

Commenting on the three products, Diego Graffi, chairman and MD, Piaggio India, said, “We are delighted to launch two new offerings from our iconic brands Vespa and Aprilia. As premium differentiated Italian brands, it is our commitment to continuously redefine and enhance our discerning consumer’s experience. Brand Vespa has added technology-led features to create a premium experience and brand Aprilia Storm is building on our technology platform to complement the exciting riding performance and set to create new benchmarks.”

Piaggio needs a game-changer in India
Piaggio needs a product or two that will speedily rev up the sales charts for the company, In FY2020, the company sold a total of 62,638 units for a market share of 0.36%, out of total two-wheeler industry sales of 1,74,17,616 units. In Q1 FY2021, the company sold 4,116 units, for a market share of 0.32 percent.
