Tata Motors has reported strong growth in certain key segments as sales of its passenger cars (excluding UVs) and medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCVs) grew by 31 percent and 34 percent, respectively, year-on-year, in February 2015.
Total commercial and passenger vehicle sales (including exports) in February 2015 were 44,225 vehicles, a growth of 11 percent over the 39,951 vehicles sold in February 2014.
Domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2015 were 40,314 units, up 14 percent over 35,315 vehicles sold in February 2014. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal year till now (April 2014-February 2015) were 449,802 units, lower by 13 percent over the 515,511 vehicles sold last year.
The company’s passenger vehicle division recorded sales of 13,767 units, up 21.56 percent compared to 11,325 units sold in February 2014. According to a company statement, the trend of growth in passenger vehicles continued with strong sales of the Zest sedan and a good market response to the Bolt hatchback. While sales of passenger cars in February 2015 were, at 11,805 units, higher by 31 percent over February 2014, UV sales declined by 15 percent at 1,962 units in February 2015.
Tata Motors’ overall commercial vehicle sales of 26,547 units, in February 2015, in the domestic market were higher by 11 percent over those of February 2014. While LCV sales declined by 4 percent to 14,357 units during the month, M&HCV sales continued to show growth at 12,190 units, higher by 34 percent over sales in February 2014.
