The Paris-based Organisation Internationale des Constructeursd' Automobiles (OICA), also known as The International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers has appointed the new office bearers during its General Assembly held at Bucharest (Romania).
S Sandilya, the newly appointed president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), has been elected as a permanent member of the prestigious OICA Council by the Assembly.
Commenting on the appointment, Sandilya said: “The inclusion of SIAM in the council as a permanent member reflects the importance the global automotive industry is giving to India and recognises the active contribution of SIAM in the global auto industry body. As a council member, this will help us in highlighting the efforts that Indian auto industry is making to sustain itself even when most of the auto markets around the globe are going through a rough patch”.
The OICA Council is chaired by the OICA President (CCFA, Patrick Blain). Following the new appointments, the other OICA Council members are:
