NTC likely to place first bulk on-road vehicle order with Scania

Bangalore, November 15, 2012 : NTC Logistics, one of the leading logistics service providers in the country, plans to place an order to buy 25 heavy duty on-road trucks from Swedish commercial vehicle giant Scania, a top official of the company said.

Bangalore, November 15, 2012 : NTC Logistics, one of the leading logistics service providers in the country, plans to place an order to buy 25 heavy duty on-road trucks from Swedish commercial vehicle giant Scania, a top official of the company said.

Talking to Autocar Professional on the sidelines of Scania’s on-road trucks launch event in Bangalore recently, K Chandramohan, chairman and managing director of NTC, said: “Scania has given us a new puller for trial. We have given an oral commitment to the company that we will lift 25 on-road vehicles from them once it commence local production.”

Infrastructure-wise, he claimed that his company is the market leader in the Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC) segment in the country.

“At present, more than 90 percent of our vehicles are from Volvo and MAN. For the first time now, we are trying with Scania,” he added.

He said the company plans to purchase the trucks from Scania once the latter commences on-road truck production at its upcoming manufacturing facility in Narasapur industrial estate near Bangalore in April next year. NTC aims to increase its turnover to Rs 630 crore in the current financial year (2012-13) from Rs 500 crore recorded in the previous fiscal.
