The forum had on display static exhibits explaining safety features like lane departure warning, brake assist and ABS. Apart from these, two simulators were also on hand including one that aimed to demonstrate how an airbag works. Those who opted to experience saw how an airbag works at a speed of five kilometres an hour. The other exhibit showed participants the benefits of seatbelts by turning a Nissan Micra upside-down with passengers seated inside.
Takayuki Ishida, managing director and CEO, Nissan Motor India (pictured), said, "The growing number of cars on Indian roads has also resulted in increased number of accidents. We as an automobile manufacturer understand our social responsibility and strongly believe that "Safety begins with ME."
The Nissan Safety Driving Forum will now move to Chennai.
India has the dubious distinction of having one of the world’s highest accident rates. By following safety procedures such as just belting up, many lives can be saved.
