June 11: Nissan has announced the name of its new premium SUV, Nissan Terrano. The company has also revealed a sketch of the model which is slated to debut in the 2013 financial year. It will be the fourth locally-produced Nissan model after the Micra hatch, Sunny saloon and the Evalia.
The Terrano will be produced at Nissan’s Oragadam plant. President and CEO of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd, Kenichiro Yomura, said Terrano will play a key role in increasing sales within the Indian market: “You can see from the sketch that Terrano has a bold and distinctive design that I am confident will appeal to our growing customer base in India, as will its driving performance and range of other features that will be revealed at a later date.”
The Terrano is the re-badged version of the Renault Duster and the company will hope to bring in good numbers as the Duster has. Nissan recently revealed a refreshed version of the Micra and is likely to launch it later this month. The car will be an automatic and has changes in the exterior and interior.
