Nissan kick-starts Micra Exports

The first major shipment of 3866 cars to Europe was flagged off from Ennore Port.

Nissan Motor India has started exports of its Micra Hatch to other international markets. Nissan terms the Micra as “Made in India” Global Compact Hatchback. The first major shipment of 3866 cars to Europe was flagged off from Ennore Port.

All Micras are built on Nissans new versatile V-platform, it is produced to comply with the different safety and environmental norms applicable in different regions. Initially, the Micra was tested in Japan but it is fine-tuned according to specific market tastes.

Nissan plans to export the Micra to more than 100 countries in various regions including Europe, Middle East and Africa. The company aims to export over 110,000 units in the fiscal year FY10-11. The consignment was shipped in a Pure Car Carrier Vessel from Nissan Motor Car Carrier, a privately owned shipping company owned by Nissan, Mitsui O.S.K Lines and Hoegh.

Earlier, in April this year, Nissan successfully tested out the first trial consignment of six cars to Barcelona from its Oragadam Plant to Ennore Port.
