Nissan, Honda, Suzuki see record global production in August

Nissan, Honda and Suzuki post new production highs, report highest-ever output from outside of Japan and mainly from Asia and China; Maruti powers Suzuki output.

Nissan, Honda, Suzuki see record global production in August

August 2017 has turned out to be an august month for most Japanese automakers, whose production levels hit record highs. Toyota, Suzuki, Honda and Nissan together produced a total of 1,887,969 vehicles globally last month. 

Nissan, Honda and Suzuki achieved record high production in the month, with all three reporting their highest ever output from outside of Japan and mainly from Asia and China.

In August 2017, worldwide production for Nissan totaled 477,472 vehicles (PVs + CVs) (+7%) with sales of 428,886 units (+3.7%). Following close behind is Honda with production of 434,395 vehicles (+7.7%) with Asia contributing a record 182,582 vehicles (+23.7%). Suzuki reported its highest ever total global production at 264,380 units (+113.4%); the company has not revealed its sales figures for August. The bulk of Suzuki’s global production came from Maruti Suzuki India – 157,339 units or 59.51 percent.

Meanwhile, Toyota, burgeoned by a slowdown that it is seeing in the North American and Australian markets, saw its production came down 2.5 percent to 711,722 vehicles globally, excluding its subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors.
