Ola Electric has announced that its new S1 series, launched on August 15, 2023 with pricing ranging from Rs 90,000 to Rs 150,000, has received a very strong market response. The refreshed and expanded S1 lineup has garnered more than 75,000 bookings within two weeks of the launch.

According to an Ola spokesperson, “We are thrilled with the response our new S1 lineup has received. We are working with speed and a clear vision to support the country’s leadership in electrification. With our refreshed lineup of scooters including the S1 Pro, S1 X portfolio and our recently launched S1 Air, there is absolutely no reason to buy an ICE product anymore.”

As per the EV OEM, with the S1X (Rs 89,999-99,099), customers can save Rs 2,600 a month and Rs 30,000 annually compared to an ICE scooter in fuel and maintenance costs, enabling them to recover the cost of their scooter in three years. Similarly, S1 Air (Rs 119,999) owners can save up to Rs 23,000 (Rs 1,900/month) a year while S1 Pro (Rs 147,499) users can save Rs 13,000 a year (Rs 1,100/month).

As per the company, these TCO (total cost of ownership) calculations are based on an average daily commute of 30 kilometres.

On August 15, Ola Electric introduced its S1X in three variants – S1 X+, S1 X (2kWh), and S1 X (3kWh). Both the S1 X+ and S1 X (3kWh) come with a 6kW motor, a 3kWh battery that has a 151km range, and a top speed of 90kph. The S1 X (2kWh) has the same 6kW motor, while a 2kWh battery that gives the scooter a range of 91km and a top speed of 85kph. While deliveries of the S1 X+ begin next month, that for the S1 X (3kWh), and S1 X (2kWh) scooters will commence in December.

On Independence Day, Ola Electric also showcased its second-generation S1 Pro built on a newer platform. Priced at Rs 147,499, the Gen-2 S1 Pro now sports a twin-fork telescopic front suspension and flat floorboard. It has an enhanced travel range of 195km and a top speed of 120kph.

Ola Electric is the market-leading electric two-wheeler OEM and continues to have a massive lead over its rivals in the ongoing fiscal year – its April-July 2023 total at 87,611 units is 40,243 units ahead of the No. 2 EV OEM. Given the robust market response to the refreshed S1 series of EVs, Ola sales numbers should see a strong charge in the coming months.
