New Mahindra Thar gets over 9,000 bookings in 4 days
These bookings have come from 18 cities; 100 more cities to be added on October 10; M&M says new Thar has resonated well with lifestyle seekers, families and women buyers.
Mahindra & Mahindra has officially announced that its new Thar, which was launched on October 2 at prices starting at Rs 980,000 for the base spec petrol-manual variant, has already crossed the 9,000 bookings mark.
M&M would be pleased with the surge in bookings despite only 18 cities in India being part of phase one markets where test drive and demo vehicles are available. The company will add 100 more cities on October 10, 2020 and test drives for the rest of the county will be available from October 15, 2020. Deliveries will commence on November 1, 2020. Designed and engineered in India and manufactured at Mahindra’s Nashik Plant, the new Thar will be available in six colours, namely - Red Rage, Mystic Copper, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, Rocky Beige and Aquamarine.
Commenting on the booking milestone, Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We are extremely happy with the overwhelming response and excitement that the new Thar has created. What is also encouraging is that the new Thar has resonated well with lifestyle seekers, families and women buyers, thereby opening-up an entirely new set of customers for this iconic lifestyle 4X4 SUV."
He added, "Despite test drives being available in just 18 cities to begin with, we have received over 9,000 bookings for the new Thar, since its launch, which is unprecedented for this segment. Our endeavour is to ensure that test drive vehicles are available in the rest of the country at the earliest, for more people to experience and book the new Thar.”
M&M says since the SUV’s launch, it has received over 36,000 enquiries and more than 330,000 website visitors.
