The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), government of India and the government of Andhra Pradesh jointly organised a State Investor Summit on October 28, with the agenda of inviting investment for setting up ‘Vehicle Scrapping Infrastructure’ under the Voluntary Vehicle-Fleet Modernization Program (V-VMP) or Vehicle Scrapping Policy.

The event was chaired by Giridhar Aramane, secretary, MoRTH, which saw participation from key officials of MoRTH and government of Andhra Pradesh, national and local investors and representatives from trade associations.

During the summit, it was emphasised by the Secretary that the government has come up with simplified investor-friendly regulations for setting up vehicle scrapping infrastructure in the country. Investors need to seize the opportunity and partner with the state government in setting up registered vehicle scrapping facility and automated testing stations.

He mentioned that it will enable phasing out of unfit and old polluting vehicles and modernise the vehicle fleet in the country.
