Minda Industries to partner Sensata Technology to make wheel speed sensors
Minda Industries is going to enter the wheel speed sensor business with machines supplied from China-based Sensata Technology Baoying.
Minda Industries, the Gurgaon-based flagship company of the UNO Minda Group, has announced its entry into the wheel speed sensor business in India and South Korea by purchasing certain machinery from Sensata Technology Baoying. It is also availing technical know-how and engineering support from Sensata Technology Changzhou.
According to the release, Minda is going to invest Rs 45.21 crore for the purchase of certain machinery of wheel speed sensors. The investment also includes availing the know-how related to the wheel speed sensors business and procuring the technical and engineering support.
Sensata Technology (Baoying) is a China-based supplier of sensing, electrical protection, control and power management solutions. Its head office is in Yangzhou. Sensata Technology (Changzhou) is an enterprise in China, with the main office in Changzhou. The company operates in the semiconductor and other electronic component manufacturing sector.
The above two companies are Chinese subsidiaries of the US-based company Sensata Technologies. It currently develops and retails the ‘9503 Universal Leaded Speed Sensor (ULSS)’ which was specifically designed with the tough requirements of the heavy vehicle and off-road market in mind. Sensata claims that this wheel speed sensor is ideal for ABS sensor applications while offering customers flexibility in variations and features.
