Michael Mayer appointed brand head, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India
Volkswagen AG has appointed Michael Mayer as director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, effective June 1, 2014.
Volkswagen AG has appointed Michael Mayer as director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, effective June 1, 2014. Mayer, 45, who currently is responsible for market planning of Volkswagen Passenger Cars European Sales Division, located at HQ in Wolfsburg, has a degree in engineering and business administration. He has been with the Volkswagen Group for over 20 years.
In his career with the VW Group, Mayer worked on several factory planning projects with assignments in China and Portugal. Amongst the various positions he held in Volkswagen Passenger Cars, he was head for sales for the Western European Region. In his function at Volkswagen Group, he oversaw the worldwide wholesale development activities. He was with Bentley Motors for six years as head of its European retail development activities and was regional director, UK and Europe with operational responsibility for the Bentley brand in Europe, including Russia and Central Asia.
In his new role, Mayer will report to Thierry Lespiaucq, MD, Volkswagen Group Sales India.
