MG Motor, Tata Power inaugurate 60 kW superfast EV charging station in Coimbatore

The 60 kW public charging station will enable cars such as ZS EV to attain 80% charge in 50 minutes.

MG Motor and Tata Power are literally going places. The carmaker and the power provider, which have collaborated to set up EV charging stations across India, today set up their latest unit in Coimbatore. It is the city’s first 60 kW superfast public EV charging station at the local MG dealership.

The initiative is a part of MG’s recent partnership with Tata Power for the deployment of 50 kW and 60 kW DC superfast charging stations across the country. In October, the two companies set up a charging station in Nagpur, followed by Agra in November and in Lucknow on December 22

The latest public EV charging station is available to all vehicles compatible with CCS fast-charging standard and is in line with MG’s commitment to provide a 5-way charging ecosystem to its customers. MG ZS EV – India’s First Pure Electric Internet SUV – can be charged up to 80% in 50 minutes at the facility. Other charging options with the ZS EV include free-of-cost AC fast-charger (installed at the customer’s home/office), extended charging network, a plug-and-charge cable onboard, and charge-on-the-go with RSA (Roadside Assistance).

Speaking at the inauguration, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, said, “Coimbatore is a key industrial hub of India. We are delighted to launch Coimbatore’s first superfast public charging station at our dealership that will facilitate the same.”

Tata Power has established an elaborate EV charging ecosystem with over 270 charging points across 26 different cities under the EZ Charge brand along with a digital platform to facilitate an easy and smooth customer experience.
