Mercedes-Benz India raises the bar with advanced connectivity in S-Class Maestro Edition

The limited-edition model will get enhanced ‘Mercedes me connect’ features including Alexa and Google Home integration.

Mercedes-Benz India today introduced the limited-edition variant of its flagship S-Class sedan in the country. Christened the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maestro Edition, the car has been launched bearing a sticker price of Rs 1.5 crore, ex-showroom.

The S-Class Maestro Edition features a host of enrichments including a high-gloss brown eucalyptus wood trim on the inside, as well as getting a new Anthracite Blue paint option.  The stand-out feature in this limited edition model is the integration of the company’s latest connected-car technology – ‘Mercedes me connect’.

Moreover, there are several other exclusive features that have been rolled out into the model, including Magic Sky Control with panoramic sunroof, as well as front seats with memory package. The Magic Sky Control offers a two-section glass module with switchable transparency to allow front and rear halves to be set to light or dark settings individually.

Coming to the ‘Mercedes me connect’ interface, the company will also be able to send OTA (over the air) updates through the aforementioned system to the car, which is also a feature it claims having by itself in the luxury car segment since 2019.

With the ‘Mercedes me’ app on the phone, customers will be able to track the location of the vehicle, remotely lock or unlock, open windows sunroof, track their vehicle’s location, set speed alerts for other users and enjoy plethora of other connect services. The integrated e-Call / SOS button would also ensure emergency services 24x7 across India through our dedicated emergency call services. In addition, the in-car ‘Me’ call button ensures seamless connection to the customer assistance centre for feature queries, breakdown and on-road assistance.

The Mercedes me connect interface will also display parking solution points of interest in the navigation system. By the virtue of this, owners will be able to navigate to off-street structured parking locations, public parking in malls, buildings as well as paid parking lots, and also see added information in terms of covered and non-covered parking lots by use of different icons in the navigation screen.

Mercedes-Benz India had introduced connected car services in the luxury segment in October 2019 and had immediately followed it up with the roll out of its updated NTG6 MBUX interface with the ‘Hey Mercedes’ wake-up feature in the GLC SUV launched in December 2019. In June 2020, the company had collaborated with MapmyIndia to display Covid-19 testing centres in the navigation pane of its models in India.

The S-Class comes equipped with multibeam LED headlamps, 13-speaker Burmester sound system, electrically-adjustable rear seats and a rear entertainment package. The car also gets a host of radar-based driving assist features, including lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maestro Edition has been launched in the 350d trim, thus, bearing a 2.9-litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel engine that generates 281bhp and 600Nm of peak torque.
