Mercedes-Benz India has announced new sales highs – for March 2015, for the first quarter in calendar year 2015 and for the fiscal year 2014-15.

The luxury carmaker has clocked its best-ever quarter sales of 3,566 units in the January to March 2015 period, posting a robust 40 percent growth compared to the same period in 2014. In March 2015, it registered 53 percent growth year on year. The company also recorded its highest ever fiscal year sales with 11,213 units sold between April 2014 to March 2015 (April 2013-March 2014: 9,548 units, +17.5%). With this, it has become the first luxury carmaker to cross the 11,000 unit annual sales mark in a fiscal.

Helping drive March 2015 numbers was the new-generation C-Class, which was launched in its diesel version in February. The E-Class also contributed significantly to the volumes in Q1 2015, and currently remains the highest sold luxury sedan in India. According to Mercedes-Benz India, the New Generation Cars with the addition of the CLA-Class also notched good numbers as did the GLA-Class. Demand was also high for the ML-Class and GL-Class SUVs.

Commenting on the landmark sales, Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said: “The robust 40 percent growth along with other multiple sales records achieved in the first quarter of 2015 is a clear indication of our commitment to a strong customer focus. We are glad to witness our ‘Live the Best’ philosophy yielding rich dividends and our objective of achieving a double-digit growth moving in the right direction. Our product offensive across the spectrum, the value added services and finance programmes, the unique customer engagement initiatives have all been well appreciated, resulting in Mercedes-Benz’s best ever month, best ever quarter and even the best ever financial year. The result of these initiatives has been an inclusive growth for the brand in India in the first quarter itself, and validates our growth projection for the market.”

Demand continues to be high for some of the carmakers’ models in India and the waitlist continues for the flagship S-Class sedan, ML-Class, GL-Class and the newly launched CLA-Class.
