The battery itself weighs approximately 40kg and the Aera electric motorcycle tips the scales at roughly 180kg. Its USP is that it is the first electric bike to boast of a four-speed gearbox, and at the moment, it is the only one in the market to do so.

The Aera 5,000 gets a 7-inch touch-compatible display with optional Bluetooth connectivity, park assist, keyless operation, OTA updates, progressive blinkers and welcome lights. Over the 5000, the 5000+ comes with Bluetooth connectivity as standard along with a lifestyle and care package, details of which have yet to be revealed.

The Aera is priced at Rs 144,000 for the 5,000 variant and Rs 154,000 for the higher-spec 5,000+ variant. These prices are ex-showroom, India, including FAME-II subsidy, excluding state subsidies. The Aera will be available in four variants in the future but only two of those are currently on sale.

In terms of retail network, Matter Energy wil have its first experience centre  in Ahmedabad and expand to 20 dealerships across the country in the next three-odd months. By the end of this year, that number will grow to approximately 100, claims the Ahmedabad-based start-up.
