Maruti Suzuki India today released a sketch of its model for the domestic market – the Ertiga-based XL6 6-seater – which is to be launched on August 21, 2019. The company will sell the XL6 through its premium Nexa dealership channel, unlike the standard Ertiga which continues to be retailed via Maruti's Arena showrooms.

Commenting on the car’s styling, Shashank Srivastava, executive director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out the XL6, a premium MPV, at Nexa showrooms across the country. Apart from the space and functionality that the customers desire for, the all-new XL6 offers a blend of sporty design and premium interiors, which will help it in establishing its niche in the MPV segment.”

According to Autocar India, the XL6 will be sold in two variants. Some of the key features will include individual captain seats for the second row, full LED headlamps and LED daytime running lamps, LED tail-lamps similar to the Ertiga, an all-black interior, height-adjustable driver’s seat and a rear wash-wipe function. Both variants will get the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system. The top-spec Alpha variant will get a reverse camera, leather seats and cruise control on the inside, and dual-tone colour scheme and black alloy wheels on the outside.

It is learnt that Maruti Suzuki will offer the XL6 with two gearbox options from launch. The BS VI-compliant, 1.5-litre petrol engine will come with Smart Hybrid fuel-saving tech and can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
