Maruti Suzuki India is looking to further accelerate sales of one of its bestselling vehicles – the Vitara Brezza compact SUV. The company has launched the facelifted Vitara Brezza and has also introduced an AMT variant with prices starting at Rs 854,000 for the VDi AGS and going up to Rs 10.49 lakh for the ZDi+ Dual Tone AGS (ex-showroom Delhi).

Both the vehicle exterior and interior have been given a makeover. The Vitara Brezza now gets new alloy wheels in glossy black finish while the front chrome grille and back door chrome garnish have been made standard across all variants. The urban compact SUV’s interiors have been refreshed with an all-black colour scheme and complementing accents.

Pricing for the Vitara Brezza AMT
VDi AGS: Rs 854,000
ZDi AGS: Rs 931,500
ZDi+ AGS: Rs 10,27,000
ZDi+ DUAL TONE AGS: Rs 10,49,000

The Vitara Brezza is squarely targeted at the Tata Nexon AMY, launched earlier this month and undercuts it substantially on the pricing front. The Nexon AMT is priced at Rs 941,000 for the petrol and Rs 10.3 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom, Delhi). Launched in a single top-spec XZA+ trim, the Nexon's USP is offering a diesel-automatic combination in the compact SUV segment

According to R S Kalsi, senior executive director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, “The Vitara Brezza has been a game-changer for India’s SUV market. We have enhanced its allure to meet aspirations of our young customers. They now have the option of Auto Gear Shift for enhanced convenience. AGS has been very well accepted by customers and sales of AGS variants in the Maruti Suzuki portfolio have tripled in three years. By making this technology available on Vitara Brezza, together with a refreshed design, we expect India’s number one SUV to become even more attractive.”

The Vitara Brezza has been a robust seller for the company and since launch has sold over 275,000 units. In FY2018, the SUV sold 148,462 units with top variants (Z and Z+) contributing 56 percent of total sales.

High on safety
Maruti says the Vitara Brezza now complies with advanced safety regulations, including pedestrian safety, ahead of regulation timelines.

The refreshed Vitara Brezza comes loaded with new safety features comprising ISOFIX child restraint system, high speed warning alert, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and front seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters. These features have now been made standard across all variants. Vitara Brezza is already certified for offset and side impact crash tests since its launch.

The Vitara Brezza has been the consistent UV leader in the Indian market barely a few months after launch, dethroning the Hyundai Creta. With new looks, an AMT variant, Maruti Suzuki is looking to further increase its stranglehold on the segment.
