Maruti Suzuki embarks on road safety programme in Maharashtra

Maruti Suzuki embarks on road safety programme in Maharashtra

Mumbai, January 3, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India and Maharashtra Highway Police have announced a partnership to promote road safety in the state of Maharashtra. The tie-up will see a co-branded vehicle cover 9 cities in the state to spread awareness on safe driving practices across schools, colleges and communities. The initiative was formally inaugurated by the Home Minister of Maharashtra, RR Patil in the presence of Anand Paranjape and Shri Ganapat Gaikwad. The Maharashtra Highway Police was represented by K P Raghuvanshi, Vijay Kambale and Shrimati Rashmi Karandikar.

Speaking on the occasion, Hena Kausar, AGM, Maruti Suzuki, said: “Maruti Suzuki has undertaken numerous initiatives to promote road safety across the country in partnership with state governments and local traffic police. The company has set up Institutes of Driving Training & Research partnering state governments and Road Safety Knowledge Centres in partnership with local traffic police which have been fairly successful. I am sure that even this initiative, in partnership with the Maharashtra Highway Police, we shall be able to reach the maximum audience to promote and instil safe driving practices.”



During the Road Safety Campaign, a Maharashtra Highway Police & Maruti Suzuki co-branded vehicle shall move across the targeted cities of Pune, Nashik, Baramati, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, Nerul, Vashi and Khargar covering residential areas and colleges in the vicinity of Maruti Driving Schools. This vehicle will deliver road safety messages; speeches also initiate on-the-spot games/competitions to make the audience aware of safe practices.
