The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry has recorded a market share of 15% in FY2020 and nearly 20% in FY2021 in the mini-truck segment in India.
The Super Carry is sold across 235 cities through 320 Maruti Suzuki commercial outlets.
Maruti Super Carry completes four years in India, sells 70,776 units

From launch in September 2016 through to end-November 2020, Maruti’s first commercial vehicle had averaged annual sales of 17,700 units.

The Maruti Super Carry, the first commercial vehicle produced by India’s passenger vehicle market leader, has completed a little over four years since launch. Launched on September 1, 2016, at an introductory price of Rs 403,000, the Super Carry project saw the company invest around Rs 300 crore towards the vehicle’s development for the Indian market.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki began sale of the Super Carry in overseas markets before introducing it in India. The company exported 300 units of the mini-truck  in May 2016 to South Africa and Tanzania.

By April 2019, the Super Carry mini-truck, targeted at the last-mile goods delivery,, had gained a 10 percent share of the 2-tonne mini-truck segment dominated by driver-cum entrepreneurial owners with Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, the market leaders with an expansive range of products competitive price-points. On May 22, 2020, the company launched the BS VI-compliant S-CNG variant of its Super Carry at Rs 507,000. The launch is aligned to the carmaker's Mission Green Million announced at Auto Expo 2020

As per Autocar Professional’s statistics, the Super Carry has sold a total of 70,776 units till end-November 2020:

The Super Carry has some distinct features along with the focus on driver comfort. The spacious driver’s cabin comes with ergonomically designed features like flat and extended co-passenger seat with a thick glass fibre heat shield for better heat insulation and NVH, a well-positioned gear lever and ergonomically placed pedals.

On the features front, it gets a mobile charging socket, dual assist grip, odometer, trip meter, fuel meter and digital clock, besides provision for a stereo. There is also an integrated rain guard, sliding back window glass, and conveniently located spare wheel carrier for ease of replacement. 

Speaking on the milestone, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India said, “Specifically engineered for the Indian mini-truck customer who values superior mileage, the Super Carry has fulfilled its promises. Being the first LCV launched with a BS6 petrol variant offering a powerful 1196cc 4-cylinder engine, it has found wide acceptance. Super Carry has created a niche for itself within a short span and has become the second best-selling mini-truck in the LCV.”

The S-CNG variant was added in 2017.The Super Carry S-CNG variant comes with a unique bi-fuel engine with five-litre petrol tank that provides backup fuel option in case of an emergency. Sold across 235 cities through over 320 Maruti Suzuki commercial outlets, Maruti Suzuki says the Super Carry has recorded a market share of 15% in FY2020 and nearly 20% in FY2021. Super Carry owners vouch for its qualities like best-in-segment power, mileage, easy maintenance, comfort and high deck load capacity, which helps enhance their profitability. Super Carry customers are a mix of owners-cum-drivers and fleet and  captive owners and use their vehicles across multiple applications including e-commerce, courier, FMCG and goods distribution.
