Maruti’s March ’14 sales down 5 percent, FY2014 sales flat
The first results for March 2014, the last month of the fiscal year 2013-14, are out, and Maruti Suzuki India has announced domestic sales of 102,269 units as against 107,890 units in the year-earlier month, a fall of 5.2 percent.

In terms of models, the compact car segment that includes the Alto and Wagon R sold 40,085 units as against 45,047 units, a fall of 11 percent. The Swift, Celerio, Ritz and Estilo combine cumulatively sold 28,285 units, 9.3 percent more than the 25,868 units in the year-earlier month.
Sales of the Dzire and SX4 were 17,237 and 411 units respectively as against 20,078 and 903 units a year earlier, both down 14 percent and 54.5 percent respectively.
However, in the vans segment, Maruti sold 9,752 units, as compared to 9,506 units in the year-earlier month, a rise of 2.6 percent. The Omni with average sales of 6,000 units a month has been in the monthly Top 10 pecking order, thanks to demand from smaller towns and rural areas.
In 2013-14, the company stopped production of the iconic 800 and also introduced its AMT-enabled Celerio hatchback that has racked up over 20,000 bookings since its launch in February.
In 2013-14, Maruti recorded flat domestic sales; with 1,053,689 units sold during the fiscal year, growth was only 0.3 percent or only 2,643 vehicles more than the 1,051,046 units sold in 2012-13.
