Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the refreshed edition of its Dzire sedan which it says has over 13 percent improved fuel efficiency, contemporary styling and better convenience features.

The car has been priced at Rs 507,800 onwards for the petrol-engined variant and will be available in four new body colours. The top-end diesel variant costs Rs 781,000, ex-showroom, New Delhi.

According to the company, the diesel-powered Dzire has a mileage of 26.59kpl while the petrol gets fuel efficiency improvement of over 9 percent with a certified fuel efficiency of 20.85kpl.

As far as looks go, the refreshed Dzire has body coloured bumpers, headlamps with a black tinge and fog lamps bezel with chrome accents.

RS Kalsi, executive director (marketing & sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The rich equipment list on the refreshed Dzire that includes premium features like engine push-start/stop system, reverse parking sensors, new motion alloy wheels and Bluetooth with audio will be valued by customers.”

According to the company, engineers from Maruti and Suzuki worked together to improve fuel efficiency, made changes in engine hardware to improve thermal efficiency, reduced frictional losses and changes in engine calibration. While the compact combustion chamber and higher compression ratio on the petrol engine helps improve engine efficiency, the advanced thermal management system in the diesel engine along with low friction engine oil and modified fuel injection system help it warm up faster and lowers frictional losses.

The Dzire sold 143,964 units in April-December 2014 as against 136,462 units in the year-earlier period. These figures are independent of the Dzire Tour, the variant aimed at the taxi market. Both cars feature regularly in the Top 10 and are always neck-and-neck in terms of individual monthly tallies. Maruti launched a refreshed Swift in November 2014.
