Maruti Suzuki India has launched the facelifted Ertiga with prices starting at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base LXi petrol model.
The facelifted Ertiga gets a new three-slat chrome grille, new bumpers front and back, new alloy wheels for the top trim and additional chrome detailing at the front and rear. The interior remains unchanged though it does get additional features. On the base L trim driver-side airbag is now standard while ABS and front passenger airbag can be availed as an option.
The Z variant gets a height adjustable driver’s seat and rear wiper and washer with defogger. The updated Ertiga gets a new top-spec trim by the name of Z+. This variant comes with Maruti's SmartPlay infotainment system and a 7.0-inch touchscreen interface. It also gets a navigation and voice recognition feature, and keyless entry and go.
Mechanically, the major upgrade seen on the Ertiga will be the availability of a SHVS mild-hybrid system that debuted in India in the Ciaz. It gets the addition of micro-hybrid technology that includes stop-start technology, brake energy recuperation and Engine Power Assist systems. Also on offer will be the 1.4-litre K14 petrol engine. The Ertiga will be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard for both the petrol and diesel models, while the mid-level petrol VXi trim gets the option of a four-speed automatic gearbox.
The Ertiga becomes the only MPV in the segment to be offered with an automatic gearbox. It rivals the likes of the Honda Mobilio and Toyota Innova.
