Maruti launches CNG-powered Dzire

Maruti has launched its Dzire sedan with its S-CNG technology. Powered by advanced K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT 1.2L engine, the company said the Dzire S-CNG delivers a peak power of 57kW @ 6000 rpm and a mileage of 31.12 km/kg which makes it one of India’s most fuel-efficient and most powerful CNG sedan.

The company’s CNG range have been conceptualized, designed and developed at company’s R&D facility after rigorous testing and are factory-fitted to deliver unmatched safety, performance, durability and high fuel efficiency.

Shashank Srivastava, senior ED - Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “The launch of Dzire S-CNG, will further strengthen our vision of green mobility and catalyze the adoption of green vehicles in India.”

Maruti is looking to offer its Nexa range of vehicles with a CNG option as customers look for a more manageable cost of ownership with petrol and diesel prices skyrocketing. In an earlier interaction with this magazine, Srivasrava said that concerns that the ‘commercial’ image around CNG can kill the aspirational quotient Maruti has cultivated around the Nexa brand have been apparently mitigated by research it conducted which suggests that this isn’t the case.”
