January 6, 2013: Mahindra 2 Wheelers has taken the covers off two new motorcycles, the Centuro and Pantero. Designed at the Mahindra R&D Centre in Pune, both motorcycles are powered by the MCi-5 engine that is manufactured at the company’s Pithampur plant.

With highly intelligent and innovative features, the Pantero and Centuro demonstrate our commitment to use advanced technology for meeting customer needs,” said Anoop Mathur, president – two-wheeler sector and member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, at the product reveal in Mumbai.
Viren Popli, executive vice-president – Strategy and Market Development, Mahindra 2 Wheelers, commented: “Our motorcycles have a host of innovations for our customers’ stated and unstated needs. The Centuro is the most advanced 110cc motorcycle in India with unique first-to-market features.”
The Centuro, which develops 8.5bhp at 7500rpm, sports innovations like a central locking anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, a remote 128 bit encrypted flip key, Find Me Lamps that help locate the motorcycle in crowded parking lots, guide lamps that continue to illuminate even after the bike is parked, an advanced, white fully-lit digital dashboard with an in-built, service due indicator and distance-to-empty fuel calculator.
The 110cc Mahindra Pantero is the revised Mahindra Stallio commuter motorcycle. Using the same MCi 5 engine as in the Centuro, this bike develops a similar 8.5bhp at 7500rpm. Mahindra 2 Wheelers says the engine returns a mileage of 79.5 kilometres per litre, a figure certified by ARAI.
