Mahindra & Mahindra has christened the upcoming Quanto replacement as the NuvoSport. According to the automaker, the NuvoSport is based on the same platform as the Scorpio, it however, retains most of the side and rear profile design from the Quanto.

With a scheduled launch in April, our sister publication Autocar India has learnt that the upcoming compact SUV would be offered with six variants and would be available with only a diesel engine option.

The carmaker has released a first set of official pictures which reveal the NuvoSport’s styling. It gets restyled headlamps, grille and bumpers and new-design alloy wheels for the higher variants. Inside, the Nuvosport will come with a new beige-themed dashboard and steering wheel, and a touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth and voice command recognition. The seats are also expected to be all-new, with better cushioning and lumbar support.

The NuvoSport has been designed and developed in-house by the Mahindra design team, while the research and development of the vehicle has been carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.

According to Pravin Shah, president & chief executive, (Automotive), M&M, “I am sure that with the addition of the NuvoSport, we will further consolidate our leadership in the SUV segment and effectively address the entire gamut of customer segments across price points ranging all the way from 4.5 lacs to 25 lacs.”
