October 3, 2012: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is to launch its SsangYong Rexton SUV in India on October 17 in Mumbai. This will be followed by launches in New Delhi and Bangalore and a phased rollout in other markets. The third-generation Rexton, which will be manufactured at M&M’s Chakan plant, is the first product from SsangYong’s product portfolio to be launched in India since M&M acquired the Korean carmaker in March 2011.

Commenting on the upcoming launch, Dr Pawan Goenka, president, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, M&M and chairman, SsangYong Motor, said: “With the launch of the SsangYong Rexton, we hope to further expand the Mahindra presence in the high-end SUV segment.”

SsangYong Motor Company, which is based in Pyeongtaek, South Korea and a major player in the Korean UV market, sells its vehicles in more than 90 countries worldwide. In addition to its focus on green technology and global expansion, SsangYong is also working towards leveraging technical synergies with M&M.
