Lumax Cornaglia Auto prepares for BS VI, opens new R&D Centre in Chakan

With BS VI norms 18 months away, suppliers gears up to develop compliant air intake systems, urea tanks, other automotive tanks, CAC ducts and other blow moulded parts.

Lumax Cornaglia Auto Technologies, a 50-50 joint venture between Lumax Auto Technologies and the Cornaglia Group of Turin, Italy, today inaugurated its R&D centre at a new location in Chakan, Pune.  

The R&D centre was inaugurated by Pier Mario Cornaglia, chairman, Cornaglia, Italy and Deepak Jain, director, Lumax Auto Technologies. The R&D centre will house experienced designers from Cornaglia, Italy as well as indigenous designers servicing the Indian domestic market.

The company says the targeted product line for the R&D centre will be air intake systems, urea tanks, other automotive tanks, CAC ducts and other blow moulded parts.

Lumax says the newly set‐up centre will enhance the local design, development and testing capabilities  to provide localised solutions to OEMs.

Commenting on the new facility, Anmol Jain, managing director, Lumax Auto Technologies, said, “Setting up of the R&D centre is another step in the right direction. At the onset of BS VI norms, we anticipate the surge for the products such as air intake systems, urea tanks, fuel tanks and CAC ducts. We, along with our partners, are dedicated in capturing the market opportunity and servicing the OEMs need by staying ahead of the curve. The focus of the R&D team would be to provide localised solutions for our customers, which will lead to fast and smooth transition towards technologically upgraded products.”
