Bangalore-based e-mobility solutions start-up Lithium Urban Technologies has now expanded its operations to Kolkata. The company, along with charging infrastructure provider Fourth Partner Energy, has partnered HIDCO to set up a new EV charging station christened ‘Powerbunk’ at New Town, Kolkata. 

The new station is being claimed to be the largest EV charging hub in the country so far. Lithium plans to introduce 1,000 EVs in Kolkata in two- to- three years’ and targets to replace diesel-run vehicles in corporate transportation fleet to offset nearly 10,000MT of carbon emissions in the city every year. 

Rs 150 crore investment in the pipeline
The e-mobility start-up has committed investments of up to Rs 150 crore in introducing the EV fleet for corporate transportation in the city along with setting up the associated charging infrastructure.  The company also aims to create around 3,000 direct and indirect jobs and will also explore research partnerships with the academia, as well as knowledge partnerships with the government and industry to further enable adoption of e-mobility in the country.

After establishing a significant clientele and successful operations in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune and now Kolkata, Lithium Urban Technologies now sees its latest expansion becoming its gateway into the North-East from where it plans to venture into the cities of Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar and Jamshedpur.
