LCV sales shine in Tata’s October tally, Nano up 4 percent

LCV sales shine in Tata’s October tally, Nano up 4 percent

November 1, 2012: Tata Motors’ total sales numbers for October 2012 are out. The company’s sales (including exports) of both commercial and passenger vehicles in October 2012 were 71,771 vehicles, higher by 6 percent over October 2011. The company’s domestic sales of CVs and passenger vehicles for October 2012 were 68,145 units , higher by 7 percent over 63,837 units sold in October last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 481,668 units, higher by 3 percent over 467,669 units sold last year.

The company’s CV sales in October in the domestic market were 47,026 units, a 21 percent growth, compared to 38,713 vehicles sold in October last year. LCV sales were 34,905 units, a growth of 59 percent, compared to 21,890 vehicles sold in October 2011. M&HCV sales stood at 12,121 units, down 28 percent, compared to 16,823 vehicles sold in October last year.

Sales of passenger vehicles at 21,119 units fell 16 percent over 25,124 units sold in October 2011. There has been an encouraging response to the Tata Manza Club Class, now available across the country, and the Tata Safari Storme, now available in the NCR region, Chandigarh and Lucknow, the company said.

Sales of the Nano were 4,004 units, higher by 4 percent, compared to 3,868 units sold in October 2011. The Indica and Vista range sales sold 6,692 units, down 38 percent over the 10,812 units sold in October last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 5,748 units, lower by 8 percent over 6,268 units, sold in October last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were 4,675 units, higher by 12 percent over 4,176 units sold in October 2011.
